• Return of the Wanderer

On arrival for Monday duty at Sandgrounder’s, I saw that ‘Snow Goose’ had been entered in the book that morning. I didn’t have to wonder for terribly wrong before spotting the individual in question, not a great view but enough to see the blue base to the bill that marked this as Ross’s Goose. • Sabine's Gull at Pennington Flash

The long-staying Sabine’s Gull at Pennington Flash was among the first three birds I saw when I raised my binoculars to my eyes. Talk about an easy tick! The bird was sculling around near the assembled twitchers and ‘togs, making the occasional short flight before returning to the stage.
