Backdated post. A visit to Marshside where I was clearly learning to recognise that all the godwits inland of Marine Drive are Black-tailed.

“Saw those ruffs again” refers to a previous visit when I went to look at some Ruffs that I’d heard were at the south end of Rimmer’s Marsh. When I got there, I saw a bewildering number of waders, but couldn’t tell which one was supposed to be a ruff - none looked like the picture in my trusty Mitchell Beazley! On returning to Sandgrounder’s hide, I was able to consult Collins and see more examples of Ruffs, and learned my lesson.

There are two genuine life ticks in this entry: Common Sandpiper and Ruff.
